Bearings DAO v1 is live. Mast Bearings holders can now submit proposals for review and vote on proposals once they open, with voting power based on their NFTs.

In the Mast roadmap, we set out a community role in choosing what Mast builds next. This release puts the first part of that commitment into the app: proposals with a defined scope, a fixed voting period and a result everyone can inspect.

Open Bearings DAO. Its dedicated address is dao.mast.bond. If the new subdomain is not resolving on your network yet, the main-site link opens the same DAO.

What holders can propose

V1 accepts proposals for index research, infrastructure improvements and community grants. Each proposal must explain the work, its deliverables, any conflicts of interest and the requested budget. A proposal requesting ETH or USDG must also name a recipient wallet; research or product suggestions can request no funding.

A useful first proposal could ask for a comparison of price-feed coverage for a future index, a specific improvement to position reporting, or a small grant with a clear delivery plan. The point is to make the decision concrete enough to evaluate before a vote and check afterward.

Eligible holders submit a proposal by signing a wallet message. Mast reviews submissions before opening them for voting. Submission alone does not start a vote or commit any funds.

One Bearing, one vote

When a proposal opens, the DAO records an ownership snapshot at a confirmed Robinhood Chain block. Each eligible Bearing in that snapshot contributes one vote. Buying, selling or transferring an NFT afterward does not move that proposal's voting power to another wallet.

Voting lasts seven days. Holders choose For, Against or Abstain, and at least 20% of the eligible NFT supply in the snapshot must participate, rounded up to a whole NFT. Abstentions count toward that quorum. A proposal passes only if quorum is met and For votes outnumber Against votes. A tie does not pass.

Each wallet submits one final ballot per proposal, weighted by its eligible NFTs. Ballots cannot be changed in v1. Submitting a proposal or casting a vote uses a wallet signature, with no gas payment, NFT deposit or token approval required.

Voting uses the public Mast Bearings collection on Robinhood Chain. Legacy position NFTs do not count in this launch configuration, and the configured protocol treasury wallet is excluded. The DAO page identifies the voting collection and exclusions.

Bearings remain optional

You do not need a Bearing to use a Mast index. This release adds governance participation for eligible collectors without making an NFT a condition of index access. You can also read the proposals and voting results without connecting a wallet.

What a passed vote means

V1 does not give a vote automatic control over funds. Mast reviews and executes treasury payments manually. A passed proposal is a recorded community decision, not a guaranteed payment. The DAO supports linking a verified payment transaction and delivery report to a proposal so the result can be followed through.

Treasury allocation reporting is not connected at launch. The fee-allocation plan described in the roadmap is not being presented as received income, an available grant budget or automatic distributions to NFT holders. Any funded proposal needs a real funding source before payment.

Bring a proposal worth voting on

The next step is to review holder submissions and open proposals with a scope the community can judge. If you have an idea, make the request specific: what should be done, what would count as delivery, what it costs and who would carry it out.
